Welcome to De Klusvakman

Are you looking for a versatile and reliable handyman in Utrecht and the surrounding area? I help with a wide range of jobs — from small repairs to projects where different skills come together. Always with attention to detail, practical solutions and a neat finish.

I also regularly help international residents and expats in Utrecht. If you prefer to communicate in English, that is no problem. Clear communication and practical solutions are always my priority.

I do not focus on large renovations, but on solid work that is done carefully and professionally.

How can I help?

I offer help with maintenance, installation, repairs and custom work. Also when tasks involve multiple disciplines or when advice is needed first. I can think along with you, give advice and if needed make a design — and then carry out the work.

Design and consultation

Ideas, advice & design

Do you have a technical challenge or a situation where choices still need to be made? I am good at finding practical and durable solutions. We discuss your idea, I work it out where needed (possibly in 3D), and then carry it out carefully.

Installation and repair

Installation & repair

Mounting items securely to walls or ceilings such as cabinets, bathroom furniture, paintings, curtain rails, lamps or shelves.

Repairing or replacing things like for example: door hardware, doors, locks or faucets.

I often help with installing lamps, curtain rails, shelves, TV mounts, furniture and other practical jobs when moving into a new home.

Make a list of jobs and I will come solve them!

Do you still have several things that need to be fixed, installed or finished? I would be happy to help.

What I do not do

I focus on handyman work and custom solutions, not on large renovations. For the following types of work I usually recommend other specialists:

  • Large renovations
  • Painting, caulking and wallpapering
  • Roof work and roof leaks
  • Installing water pipes (plumbing work)
  • Electrical work inside the fuse box

If your job is not listed here, feel free to get in touch — in many cases I can still help or give honest advice.

What can you expect?

Clear agreements upfront

In our first conversation we discuss your wishes, the level of quality you want, and the possible approach. Based on that, I give a realistic estimate of the time, materials and costs. This way you know what to expect in advance.

Honest and transparent way of working

In most cases I work with an hourly rate. Many jobs turn out slightly different in practice than expected beforehand. Working on an hourly basis means you pay for the work that is actually done, without large “safety margins” that are often needed with fixed prices.

Careful execution

I work neatly, think ahead and pay attention to the finishing. A solution should not only work, but also be solid and done with care.

Thinking along when needed

Not sure about the best approach? I’m happy to think along with you to find a practical and durable solution.

Sustainable & eco-friendly

I try to work as much as possible with a sustainable mindset. For visits within the city I use a specially equipped cargo bike, which makes transport more efficient and more environmentally friendly.

When choosing materials I try to make conscious, responsible choices. Where possible I work with durable or reusable materials and I take into account lifespan, maintenance and environmental impact.

I also always consider whether repair or adjustment is a better option than full replacement. When I build or fix something, I do it with the goal that it keeps working well for a long time — so it won’t be needed again next year.

About De Klusvakman

Originally I’m a graphic designer (education: art academy, graphic design).

In daily life friends and acquaintances often asked me to think along with practical home projects, or to solve them. I noticed there was a real need for a versatile handyman for jobs that are not a full renovation. That’s why “De Klusvakman” exists.

What my eyes see quickly turns into solutions in my head — and then my hands make it real. I enjoy projects where advice is needed, where choices still need to be made, and where the exact material or technical solution is not fixed yet. I like delivering solid work, making something that looks good, or replacing a missing part where precision matters. I’m also very comfortable with 3D design and 3D printing, which can be extremely useful for making seemingly impossible repairs possible.

My creativity and craftsmanship make me the right person for practical home jobs that require precision and custom work.

Even though most of my time goes into “De Klusvakman”, I also take on projects as a graphic designer and UX/UI designer.

“Marc is een out of the boxdenker. Als een onderdeel niet te vinden is, maakt hij het zelf: in dit geval maakte hij met een 3D printer een aansluiting voor de afvoer van het fonteintje in de WC. Past perfect. Lekkage opgelost”
